Romanian authorities place multi-million dollar order with Porr construction company
🚆 Glorious news, our pals at Porr Construction are right in the thick of it! They've landed a jaw-dropping 428 million euro contract to revamp the Craiova - Caransebeș rail line in the lovely land of Romania 🇷🇴.
The project runs for a sprightly 5 years, with the team aiming to wrap it up by 2026. By the way, do you know Porr managed to hit a cool turnover of 6.2 billion euros in 2024? #BigLeagues
Renovation work galore! The railway line is about to be given a much-needed facelift. The makeover includes the refurbishment of 32.6 km of track, turning it from a single-track to a swanky double-track system. Can you imagine that?
Along the line, 18 futuristic bridges and 54 sleek crossings will be built, making it the talk of the town. Pssst, don't forget the two brand-new double-track lines!
Got some worn-out tunnels? No problemo! The Rachitoberg tunnel (496 m) will get a facelift, while a shiny new 1,279 m long tunnel, Poarta I, will be built. And, six train stations—Băile Herculane, Mehadia Nouă, Mehadia, Iablanița, Crușovăț, and Domașnea Cornea—get some TLC as well.
Get ready for a safer and swifter rail journey, because the electrified line will be furnished with the European Train Control System ERTMS Level 2. #ModernizationMagic
