RTA Initiates Phase II Enhancements for Seaport Station Lobbies in Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has initiated Phase II of a project to upgrade waiting areas at marine transport stations. This ambitious plan aims to modernise and improve the marine transport experience, focusing on five key stations: Al Fahidi, Baniyas, Al Seef, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Bluewaters.

The project's objectives include enhancing the quality of marine services in Dubai. To achieve this, the architectural concept of the upgraded waiting areas reflects Dubai's maritime heritage, inspired by traditional wooden abras. This blending of cultural identity with modern design creates an environment that reflects both the emirate's rich history and contemporary aesthetics.

The upgraded stations will offer an inclusive and comfortable environment for passengers. Dedicated spaces for People of Determination are part of the upgrades, aligning with the Dubai Universal Design Code to ensure full accessibility. Advanced security systems, including fire alarms and surveillance cameras, will also be installed to ensure passenger safety.

The initiative by RTA intends to make marine transport more appealing while supporting Dubai's vision for sustainable and integrated mobility. By improving connectivity, the upgraded stations will seamlessly integrate with other public transport modes such as metro, tram, and bus networks. This encourages public transport use and reduces reliance on private vehicles, supporting Dubai's sustainability goals.

The project is part of a broader master plan to enhance marine infrastructure and service quality. Khalaf Belghuzooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at RTA's Public Transport Agency, stated that the project's aim is to provide seamless connectivity between various public transport modes in Dubai. The goal is to increase customer satisfaction by offering modern, air-conditioned waiting areas and improving the overall marine transport experience.

The project's aim to enhance customer satisfaction suggests an investment in finance for the improvement of marine transport infrastructure. This initiative aligns with Dubai's broader goals in finance, environment, and industry, as it promotes a sustainable and integrated transportation system.

In addition, the seamless integration of the upgraded marine stations with other public transport modes like metro, tram, and bus networks creates opportunities for collaboration in the transportation industry, helping the city achieve its sustainability goals and modernise its operational processes.
