Russia's 'Infrastructure for Life' Project Speeds Up Oymyakon Highway Repairs
Repair works on the Oymyakon highway are progressing well under Russia's 'Infrastructure for Life' national project. The road leading to the 'Pole of Cold', as Oymyakon is known, has seen significant improvements ahead of schedule.
In the Oymyakon district, specialists have successfully brought sections from 16 km to 22 km and from 22 km to 26 km of the regional road up to standard. This involved laying a gravel-sand mixture roadbed and pavement, installing 8 culverts with stone revetment, and updating 78 road signs.
Further, repairs to the highway from 1.4 km to 6.4 km are nearing completion, with a planned finish this year. The entire project, from 1.4 km to an unknown point, is scheduled to be completed by October 2023. These repairs are part of the 'Infrastructure for Life' project, which aims to improve road conditions across Russia.
The Oymyakon highway repairs, including sections leading to the 'Pole of Cold', are well underway. The recent work has brought significant improvements to the regional road, enhancing safety and accessibility. The project is on track to meet its completion deadline later this year.
