Saxony's Millionaire Population Surges in 2021

The number of income millionaires in Germany rose significantly in 2021, with Saxony seeing a notable increase. The state now boasts 599 millionaires, up from 490 in 2020.

Saxony's capital, Leipzig, led the way with 125 millionaires, a rise from 106 the previous year. Dresden followed with 109, up from 88. Chemnitz also saw an increase, from 28 to 37 millionaires.

Nationally, the total number of income millionaires climbed from 29,345 in 2020 to 34,509 in 2021. North Rhine-Westphalia topped the list with 7,871, followed by Bavaria (7,707) and Baden-Württemberg (5,442). This compares to Saxony's 599.

Over the decade, Saxony's millionaire population has grown steadily. In 2010, there were 178 millionaires, rising to 329 in 2016, and now 599 in 2021.

In 2021, Saxony's income millionaires increased by 109, with Leipzig and Dresden leading the growth. Nationally, the number of millionaires rose by 5,164. Despite this growth, Saxony still trails the top states, highlighting regional disparities in wealth.
