Scam Alert for Ledger Crypto Wallet Users: Customers Report Receiving Deceptive Mail Correspondence

Breaking: Ledger Warns Customers Against Phishing Scam Impersonating Crypto Hardware Wallet Firm

Paris-based cryptocurrency hardware wallet supplier, Ledger, has cautioned its customers to be vigilant against a new phishing scheme targeting them. The scam involves sending physical letters requiring wallet validation for security purposes, followed by a link to enter the recovery phrase through a secure channel.

Ledger has confirmed that the letter is a scam in a social media post on X. The firm previously warned its users against impersonators contacting them through phone calls. The hardware wallet manufacturer insists it will never ask customers to reveal their 24-word recovery phrase. It encourages customers to directly contact its support team for assistance, not engage with accounts claiming to be Ledger employees or anyone offering help in recovering funds.

Notable victims of the phishing scheme include BitGo CEO Mike Belshe and Troy Lindsey, who warned others not to fall for the scams. Another high-profile incident involved the theft of $330 million in Bitcoin due to a phishing attack in April 2025, and a data leak affecting Coinbase users.

These phishing scams highlight the risks faced by crypto users from phishing and social engineering attacks. Ledger customers are advised to never share seed phrases with anyone, beware of QR codes from unsolicited letters or emails, verify communications through official channels, download Ledger Live only from the official Ledger website, and stay alert for suspicious emails, letters, or phone calls that ask for wallet validation or sensitive information.

Cryptocurrency users should be cautious of unsolicited communications to safeguard their assets in the present threat landscape.

  1. Amidst concerns about cybersecurity, Ledger's warning against a phishing scam serves as a reminder for cryptocurrency users to be careful with their blockchain wallets, as even high-profile figures like BitGo CEO Mike Belshe and Troy Lindsey have fallen victim.
  2. In response to the ongoing threats, it's essential for altcoin holders to follow Ledger's advice: never share seed phrases, verify communications, download software only from the official website, and remain vigilant against suspicious communications that ask for wallet validation or sensitive information.
