Schweinfurt Customs Finds Wage Theft, Illegal Employment in Hairdressing Industry
Schweinfurt customs office, led by an unknown official, conducted a special audit in the hairdressing and cosmetics industry, uncovering several labor law violations and potential illegal activities. The inspection, involving 90 officials, targeted undeclared work and illegal employment by 166 individuals across 79 businesses.
The audit revealed 17 on-site investigations, numerous deficiencies in mandatory notification and recording obligations, and 17 possible violations. Additionally, eight cases indicated non-payment of the statutory minimum wage of 12.82 euros, while nine cases involved suspected withholding and misappropriation of wages.
Moreover, eight cases had suspicions of illegal employment of foreign workers, despite the efforts of the usajobs and uscis to prevent such activities. The audit uncovered 42 possible violations, with further business records set to be checked, and one case showing indications of unlawful receipt of state social benefits. The findings emphasize the need for strict enforcement of labor laws and regulations in the sector.
