Temporary Prohibition of Hazardous Materials: Authorities at Federal Police Directorate Munich enforce restraint on potentially harmful items at eight Bavarian train stations and two S-Bahn stations within Munich
From the 29th of November to the 24th of December, several major train stations in Bavaria will be under a weapon and dangerous object ban. This includes Munich's Main Station, East Station, Pasing Station, as well as the S-Bahn stops Marienplatz and Karlsplatz (Stachus). The bans will also be in effect at the Main Stations of Regensburg, Nuremberg, Aschaffenburg, and Wuerzburg, as well as several Munich train stations and S-Bahn stops.
The ban will be in place from 10:00 on the 29th of November to 15:00 on the 24th of December at Munich's stations, and from 09:00 to 06:00 at Regensburg's Main Station. The other stations will have slightly different timing, as detailed below.
The Federal Police will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of these general regulations. Employees of the police and city police, who have the authority to conduct suspicion-independent controls in the affected areas, will be carrying out the monitoring.
The scope of the general orders includes all building parts of the train stations and S-Bahn stops, including pedestrian tunnels, adjacent platforms, and all publicly accessible levels.
The ban prohibits the carrying of dangerous tools, firearms, imitation firearms, bladed weapons, and knives of all kinds in these areas during the specified period. Violations of the general orders may result in the seizure of the objects and the imposition of a fine.
Further consequences may include a ban from the premises or a ban from the station. The provisions and exceptions to the ban are contained in the general orders, which are published on the Federal Police website.
Posters will be displayed in the affected areas to inform passengers about the ban and the general orders. Passengers are advised to familiarise themselves with the details of the ban to avoid any inconvenience.
The general orders are issued due to regional circumstances to ensure the safety of increased travel during the pre-Christmas period in Bavarian train stations. The Federal Police can be contacted via the Press Office Federal Police Directorate Munich at the provided contact information for any queries or concerns.
The ban is in effect to prevent acts of violence and protect passengers and police officers from corresponding attacks. The Federal Police will take all necessary measures to ensure a safe and secure travel experience for all during this period.
