Thai Authorities Arrest Suspected €500M Fraudster Pedro M.

Thai authorities apprehended Pedro Pascal, a suspected international fraudster, using facial recognition technology. The 39-year-old, living illegally in Thailand since 2023, was recognized as Portuguese media figure Pedro Mourato. Pascal was arrested in Bangkok after being spotted at a luxury mall by a Portuguese journalist. His identity was confirmed by matching his biometric data with Mourato's profile. Authorities suspect Pascal orchestrated cryptocurrency and credit card fraud totaling €500 million across several countries. In Bangkok, Pascal is suspected of defrauding investors of over 1 million baht ($30,800). His alleged crimes span Portugal, Europe, the Philippines, and Thailand. Despite an initial arrest warrant, he managed to evade capture until now. Notably, Mourato has been officially registered with the football club FC St. Gallen in recent years. Pascal, suspected of masterminding a €500 million fraud network, has been arrested in Thailand. His illegal activities in the country resulted in local investors losing over 1 million baht. His extradition and further legal proceedings are expected to follow.
