Global Airlines Debuts Operations with Acquired Airbus A380

In an unexpected turn of events for the airline industry, Global Airlines has commenced operations with the iconic Airbus A380 as its flagship aircraft. This venture marks a daring and ambitious stance in the aviation sector.

Originally delivered to China Southern Airlines in 2013, the Airbus A380-841, now registered as 9H-GLOBL, recently joined the Global Airlines' fleet. With a service life spanning over a decade, the plane boasts manufacturer serial number (MSN) 120 and commenced its maiden flight on September 25, 2012, from Airbus' production facility in Toulouse, France.

The aircraft, initially configured with 8 First, 70 Business, and 428 Economy seats, was initially leased from ICBC and later shifted to ABC Financial Leasing in May 2015 and then CSA Leasing in February 2020. After a nearly decade-long service, it was withdrawn from active duty on November 5, 2022, and placed in storage at Mojave Air & Space Port from December 21, 2022, to April 30, 2024.

In January 2023, the aircraft was purchased by Jet Midwest and re-registered as N123KK. A year later, in January 2024, it formally became part of Global Airlines' fleet, maintaining its original setup and engine type.

While under Hi Fly Malta's operation, the aircraft underwent several periods of storage and maintenance. It was the first to be stored at Glasgow Prestwick Airport from May 1 to October 4, 2024, then moved to Dresden until January 17, 2025, and finally to Beja through May 2, 2025.

The Airbus A380, nowdonning the livery of Global Airlines, made its first commercial passenger flight from Glasgow to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport on May 15, 2025. The airline recently operated a one-time service from Manchester to New York as well. Currently, Global Airlines is repositioning its focus towards wet lease operations to boost its service offerings.
