Funding for Thuringia's Consumer Advice Center Secured - Thuringia Boosts Consumer Insolvency Advice Funding, Securing Three New Centers
Thuringia's Ministry of Justice has announced a significant boost in funding for consumer insolvency advice, securing the future of three new advice centers in Schleiz, Hildburghausen, and Sonneberg. The move follows concerns about the sustainability of these centers beyond this year.
In 2024, approximately 10,000 Thuringians benefited from the independent advice services offered by the Consumer Center. The state has now allocated a total of 300,000 euros for the Consumer Center Thüringia e.V. in its draft budget for 2026 and 2027, ensuring the funding of the three new advice centers for at least three years.
Justice Minister Beate Meißner (CDU) highlighted the importance of these centers, stating that the funding will provide people with more security and support in asserting their interests. The goal is to ensure at least one high-quality and independent advice center for consumer insolvency in every district and large city. Every euro invested in such advice relieves the public purse by at least twice the amount, according to independent studies.
The state of Thuringia has committed to strengthening its consumer insolvency advice services, with an increase in funding of around one million euros. This will secure the future of the three new advice centers and provide crucial support to Thuringians in need of consumer advice.
