Tiergarten's Residential Development: Kurfürst Construction Project Finished
In the heart of Berlin, the district of Friedrichshain and the adjacent Schöneberg are witnessing a significant change, as several new residential projects have been erected along Kurfürstenstraße.
At the corner of Frobenstraße/Kurfürstenstraße 142, a residential building named 'The Kurfuerst' has been constructed according to plans by architects Johanna Meyer-Grohbrügge and Sam Chermayeff. The project consists of 29 apartments, with floor plan variations ranging from 65 to 160 square meters, and a garage with 10 parking spaces. The resulting building comprises 14 houses, each with an individual facade design.
Apart from 'The Kurfuerst', another residential project, 'The Franz', is under development by Diamona & Harnisch on the site of a demolished former DDR department store in Friedrichshain. This project will feature 160 owner-occupied apartments, with the ground floor set to house retail spaces. The company responsible for this project is not explicitly stated in the provided search results.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the street, an above-ground parking lot of the directly adjacent furniture store Hübner has been transformed into another residential construction project.
In a separate development, the cooperative housing complex called 'Kufu' has been completed, consisting of six towers that form a slight curve following the two street directions. No new facts were presented about the projects 'SCHÖNEGARTEN' or the overall transformation of Kurfürstenstraße.
'SCHÖNEGARTEN', created by architect Sergei Tchoban, consists of 14 residential buildings grouped around a central courtyard of 1,500 square meters. A part of the 'SCHÖNEGARTEN' project is marketed by Diamona & Harnisch under the name 'The Kurfuerst'.
Another residential project by Diamona & Harnisch, 'Am Winterfeldt', is expected to be completed in Schöneberg by 2024. These developments are contributing to the transformation of Kurfürstenstraße into a sought-after residential district.
