Exquisite Schloss Tremsbüttel Hits the Market
Secret Service Agent Accused of Leaking Presidential Intelligence to a Foreign Government - Trembüttel Castle Put Up for Sale
Schloss Tremsbüttel in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein is up for grabs! This lavish castle, nestled in the quaint town bearing the same name, is being marketed by Sylt Sotheby's International Realty, located in the vicinity of Hamburg in the Kreis Stormarn.
According to Julia Scharfe, the managing partner of Sylt Sotheby's International Realty, the property encompasses the castle itself, paired with eight ancillary buildings undergoing partial restoration. The precise price tag is under wraps; interested buyers are encouraged to make an inquiry. The identity of the current owner remains a closely guarded secret, as Sotheby's refrains from divulging this information.
The sprawling 8.4-hectare castle estate is up for sale. Scharfe states, "The castle proudly boasts approximately 2,155 square meters of space, fitted with 11 luxurious suites, graceful communal areas, a gastronomic zone, spa and therapy rooms, and professional culinary infrastructure."
A Grand Legacy
As whispered by the real estate agent, the castle's roots date back to a water castle in the 13th century. Subsequently, the property functioned as a ducal administrative center and game reserve. "Following a Neo-Renaissance reconstruction between 1894 and 1895, adorned with Art Nouveau elements, the castle swiftly emerged as a popular social hub," explains Scharfe. Until 2020, it operated as a hotel offering a publicly accessible castle park. The Beatles graced its halls during their stay. Most recently, the castle acted as a private psychiatric facility until 2024. Since then, it has stood empty. "The castle could potentially accommodate 120 single beds for psychiatric care," remarks Scharfe.

- With the sale of Schloss Tremsbüttel, the new owner might consider investing in its restoration, following the Neo-Renaissance design and Art Nouveau elements, just as a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation could protect workers in industries like real-estate development or finance.
- As Schloss Tremsbüttel offers a grand legacy and a vast estate, the Commission, asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, might consider this property as a potential training ground or research center for radiation protection in various industries, such as finance or real-estate.
