The Wambel Tunnel in Dortmund will be closed for additional maintenance from September 8 to 12, 2025. This closure will affect traffic participants using the B236 highway, with no traffic allowed through the tunnel during the specified time period.

The closure will occur in both directions and will commence at 8 pm each night, lasting until 5 am the following morning. During this time, only one lane will be available for traffic in both directions.

The affected exit from the B1 to the B236 in the direction of Lünen will also be unavailable during the additional maintenance period. However, detours will be signposted to help navigate around the closure.

The semi-annual additional maintenance is being managed by the Street.NRW Regional Branch Ruhr, responsible for operating the tunnel and half-yearly additional maintenance of tunnel technology in Germany, including the Autobahn GmbH des Bundes.

Further restrictions for additional maintenance will occur in late September, although specific details have yet to be announced. Street.NRW has promised to provide timely information about these additional maintenance works.

It's important to note that no information about tunnel safety was provided in this announcement. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and follow all signs and instructions during the additional maintenance period.

The closure will take place on September 11 and 12, 2025. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any potential delays.
