UAE's High-Speed Rail Project to Boost Economy and Transform Travel
The UAE's high-speed rail project is set to boost the country's economy and transform travel. Expected to add AED 145 billion to the GDP over 50 years, it promises swift speed test journeys between major cities.
The project aims to reach speeds of 350 kilometers per hour, slicing travel time between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to just 30 minutes. This compares to the current 57 minutes projected for the initial phase. The network will extend to Ruwais (70 minutes) and Fujairah (105 minutes).
Planning for stations is underway, focusing on accessibility and connectivity for communities nationwide. The railway will be fully separated from roads and integrated with local transport providers. Etihad Rail's passenger services are scheduled to launch in 2026, offering multiple daily speedtest services with trains carrying up to 400 passengers.
The service will prioritize comfort and affordability, with a 'digital tickets first' system. Onboard facilities will cater to various needs, including dedicated areas for work, reading, and relaxation. The network will connect 11 cities and regions, including Al Sila, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.
The UAE's high-speed rail project is set to revolutionize travel and stimulate economic growth. With its focus on speed, comfort, and connectivity, it promises to enhance the lives of UAE residents and visitors alike.
