UK Space Agency Backs AccelerComm, Radisys for 5G Satellite Tech
The UK Space Agency has backed a collaborative project between AccelerComm and Radisys to advance 5G technology for satellite networks. The project aims to integrate AccelerComm's Layer 1 technology into Radisys' lab in India, fostering new international partnerships and offering integrated solutions to customers.
Secured through the UK Space Agency's International Bilateral Fund, this project aims to develop the next generation of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs). AccelerComm and Radisys will work together to address the unique challenges of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) constellations.
Professor Anu Ojha, International Director at the UK Space Agency, welcomes this opportunity for UK organisations to build global ties. Munish Chhabra, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Software and Services at Radisys, stresses the need for optimised, resilient, and inter-operable software to tackle these challenges. David Helfgott, CEO of AccelerComm, underlines the importance of close collaboration among companies for this innovative endeavour.
The UK Space Agency's funding has enabled AccelerComm and Radisys to embark on a joint project, integrating the latest Layer 1 technology into Radisys' lab in India. This collaboration seeks to strengthen UK's role in the global space sector and provide comprehensive solutions to satellite manufacturers and operators.
