Valeo Food sells Meat Snacks Group to Kepak
Kepak, a leading food company, has announced its acquisition of Meat Snacks Group Limited, trading as New World Foods Europe, from Valeo Food Group. This strategic move expands Kepak's presence in the high-protein ambient meat snacks and food-to-go markets, which are experiencing strong growth in the UK and international markets.
The deal includes established brands such as Kings, Wild West, Cruga, Freshers Foods, and two manufacturing sites in Wigan and York, significantly broadening Kepak's product portfolio in the convenience snacking segment.
Brian Farrell, CEO of Kepak Foods Division, expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the acquisition supports Kepak's continued growth in the UK and international markets, particularly in the convenience and food-to-go channels. He also mentioned that the deal reflects Kepak's ongoing commitment to consumer-led innovation and category development.
Ronald Kers, CEO of Valeo Foods Group, expressed confidence that Kepak Group is the right partner to lead New World Foods Europe into its next chapter and unlock its full potential. He added that he is pleased that New World Foods Europe is transitioning to another outstanding company where it will receive focus and resources to grow.
The acquisition aligns with Kepak's broader strategy to diversify and strengthen its product range by adding a complementary suite of well-known, nutritious, and convenient snack brands. This enhances their capabilities in the ambient snacking category and supports growth in the UK and international convenience and food-to-go channels.
From a market presence standpoint, the acquisition allows Kepak to leverage the existing manufacturing infrastructure and brand reputation of Meat Snacks Group to accelerate growth. The acquisition marks a significant milestone in Kepak’s €2 billion turnover company’s plan to capture more market share within the rising consumer demand for high-protein snacks.
The acquisition does not seem to have any immediate impact on the business operations of either company or their partners, as a phased integration process is to be started. This acquisition significantly strengthens Kepak’s product portfolio with established high-protein snack brands and enhances its market presence in the ambient snacking and food-to-go sectors, facilitating accelerated growth in both domestic and international markets.
