Velbert's City Center Facelift: 55 Properties Revitalized in 'Facade and Surroundings' Program

Velbert's city center is undergoing a facelift, with numerous properties in streets such as Offerstraße, Blumenstraße, and Bahnhofstraße benefiting from a funding program. The 'Facade and Surroundings' program, initiated in 2017, has supported 55 properties so far, enhancing the cityscape and strengthening the urban core.

The program, which applies to the 'Urban Renewal Area City Center' around Friedrichstraße and the pedestrian zone, offers financial subsidies of up to 40 euros per square meter for attractive facade and outdoor area design. Katrin Neumann from the department of urban renewal and monument protection highlights the program's role in improving the cityscape and bolstering the city center.

Property owners in the funding area can contact the city of Velbert for more information. Recent beneficiaries include the distinctive Gründerzeit facade of the Nikolaus-Ehlen-Gymnasium, which received a new paint job. Further details on the funding guidelines and application procedure can be found online under 'Facade program Velbert-Middle'. The program supports measures that contribute to a friendly and lively appearance of the city center, with buildings at Friedrichstraße 135 and 160 among the recent recipients.
