Weekend closures of Engelberg tunnel on A81 highway
The Federal Highway Authority has announced that the Engelberg Tunnel on the A81 near Leonberger will be temporarily closed in both directions this weekend. The closure, which will last from Saturday night until Sunday morning, is due to maintenance work on the traffic technology.
Drivers wishing to access the highway at the Leonberg-Ost interchange are advised to take the detour to the Leonberg-West interchange. Similarly, those coming from Munich toward Heilbronn will be rerouted via the Leonberg-Ost and Leonberg-West exits.
The closure will take effect from Saturday at 23:00 and will last until Sunday at 10:00. Individual lanes will be affected as early as 21:30. Traffic from Karlsruhe heading toward Heilbronn will be rerouted from the Leonberg-West interchange, while those coming from Stuttgart-Feuerbach will be directed to the same interchange as a detour.
The closure will affect both directions of the A81 near Leonberger. The maintenance work is scheduled for the Engelberg Tunnel on the A81.
