Residents of Nizhny Novgorod dream of lavish vacations, with the average person envisioning a whopping 185,000 rubles, according to SuperJob. However, the reality is less glamorous, with the average vacation budget sitting at around 58,000 rubles per person. Worryingly, 22% of locals admit to having no funds for a vacation this year.
Nationwide, it's a similar story. People are willing to spend 52,000 rubles on a one-week vacation, while the ideal vacation costs a staggering 190,000 rubles. Vacation budgets have increased by 4%, and desired vacation costs have gone up by 9%.
Surprisingly, women plan to spend less on vacation than men – 49,000 rubles versus 56,000 rubles. Men are more ambitious, eyeing a budget of 220,000 rubles for their ideal vacation, while women consider 170,000 rubles sufficient.
One in four Russians (24%) admit they can't afford a vacation at all.
This discrepancy between dream and reality can be attributed to several factors. Economic limitations, swanky travel preferences, and broader economic troubles all play a role.
Economically, residents in Nizhny Novgorod experience lower costs compared to major cities like Moscow – up to 40% cheaper. Yet, average net salaries in Russia are limited, hovering around 73,965 RUB per month. This income cap, combined with relatively higher living costs in Nizhny Novgorod, creates a significant gap between dream and reality vacation budgets.
Travel market trends also contribute. There's a growing trend in family travel within Russia, pushing up costs associated with multiple hotel rooms or alternative accommodations. The rising demand for family holidays and popular destinations can inflate prices and limit budgets, creating a gap between ideal and actual spending.
Lastly, Russia's economy faces budgetary and income challenges, with around 11% of the population living below the poverty line. Such economic constraints impact spending power across Russia, including that of Nizhny Novgorod residents. Additionally, inflation and currency fluctuations can further erode real incomes and increase travel costs, widening the gap between ideal and actual vacation budgets.
Personal-finance constraints, particularly average net salaries of 73,965 RUB per month, are hindering residents of Nizhny Novgorod from affording their dream vacations, which cost an average of 185,000 rubles. On the other hand, business trends in family travel within Russia are driving up vacation costs, creating a gap between personal-finance budgets and ideal spending.
