Work resumption looms for A10, as the truce ends, with the Easter period duties to recommence from tomorrow onward.

Today, I've come back from the bridge bearing a red tag. Thirteen construction sites on the Savona-Ventimiglia Interchanges will resume operations, as announced by Tirreno Concessions.

Work resumption looms for A10, as the truce ends, with the Easter period duties to recommence from tomorrow onward.

Dialing up the Dust and Delays: A10's Construction Resurrection

Brace yourselves, road warriors! The next couple of days promise a whirlwind of traffic action on the A10, particularly between Savona and Ventimiglia. Yesterday's journey back from the Labor Day bridge was a snarl—24 kilometers of congestion from the afternoon squeeze between Pietra Ligure and Savona—and today's expected to be no better, given the influx of vacationers dashing home from the French Riviera. Traffic enforcement and highway cops are on red alert, ready to hop to the rescue whenever traffic jams stretch to breaking points.

We've reached the crunch of things for the A10. The nightlife exodus of tourists has concluded, and tomorrow, construction sites will break their truce, cluttering the highway once more. For nearly twenty days, the A10 breathed easily, providing a distinct boost to mobility and putting a spring in the step of the tourist sector. But alas, the old days are back, and the setup of a whopping thirteen work zones in Savona and Imperia provinces is just the beginning. Four of those will involve lane changes.

Construction Chaos

Get ready for an obstacle course! The chaotic vendetta begins in the west, kicking off with two back-to-back lane changes. The first takes place between the border and Ventimiglia (Grimaldi tunnel completion) and the second between Ventimiglia and Bordighera (Aprosio tunnel). Next, we have two head-on construction sites to swap out safety barriers in Arma di Taggia and between Imperia Est and Imperia Ovest. The drama continues with two more construction sites overlapping between San Bartolomeo and Andora, followed by a lane change and a construction site between Andora and Albenga. The saga concludes with a construction site for safety barriers between Pietra and Finale Ligure and a lane change (Rocca Carpanea tunnel) between the caselli of Finale and Feglino. If necessary, mobile construction sites will join the fracas.

Weekend Adjustments

The Tirreno Concessions, anticipating the intense traffic that'll rock spring weekends with a plethora of events in their provinces (including the Monaco GP at the end of the month), has cooked up a plan. By reducing the number of construction sites from 13 to 8 and employing road zippers during peak hours, they aim to ensure smoother travels. Unluckily, this plan omits the tourist influx from abroad, like Pentecost, generating bridges from France and Germany, potentially causing congestion.

Upcoming Closures

The restart of the interventions will initiate the closure of a stretch in the France-bound direction between Imperia Ovest and Arma di Taggia from 22 tomorrow until 6 on Tuesday. The following night (same hours), the one in the Italy-bound direction, always between the two western caselli, will be on lockdown.

Schedule of Misery

As of now, the Tirreno Concessions have outlined a work schedule lasting until the end of June (the last week boasts 12 construction sites). However, their working hours hint at the A10 functioning as a construction site until the first three weeks of July (certain projects won’t conclude until July 24). But have no fear, the number of construction sites will gradually decrease as the weeks pass by.
