Workers' safeguard from ionizing radiation dangers remains unaddressed by the Commission, as they have yet to finalize a directive.

In a significant development, the Supreme Court of Austria has concluded its legal proceedings against Karl-Heinz Grasser in the Buwog corruption case. The verdict, which was initially expected on April 25, has been delayed but is now anticipated around mid-July 2025, according to the latest report from oe24.

Following the Supreme Court's decision, the written verdict for Grasser's case is expected imminently. Once received, Grasser is anticipated to begin serving his eight-year prison sentence shortly thereafter. The exact date for the verdict issuance or imprisonment start has not been specified, but the timeline suggests these events will occur in the days or weeks after mid-July 2025.

The written verdict from the Supreme Court (OGH) has not yet arrived at the Vienna Regional Court. The 'end decision' can only be served to Grasser after it is issued by the judge. Grasser has four weeks from the issuance of the 'end decision' to begin his imprisonment.

The file in the Buwog/Grasser case is very extensive, as confirmed by the regional court. The place of Grasser's imprisonment will be decided by the Justice Directorate, with Kitzbühel's "Ziegelstadel" in Innsbruck being a possible location.

The hearing on the non-appeal and appeals in the Buwog/Grasser case took place at the OGH in Vienna on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Present at the hearing were Grasser, his lawyer Manfred Ainedter, and lawyer Norbert Wess, among others.

It is important to note that Grasser and his associates, including Walter Meischberger and Peter Hochegger, were sentenced to prison terms and received a combined commission of approximately €10 million for their involvement in the bidding process for the sale of Buwog apartments to Immofinanz. Grasser's imprisonment is likely to begin in June, and Meischberger's is expected to start soon after. Hochegger received a lighter sentence due to his confession.

The Supreme Court's verdict regarding embezzlement for Grasser, Meischberger, and Hochegger has not been issued in writing. Only when the verdict arrives at the Vienna Regional Court can the responsible judge issue an 'end decision'.
